Before you head out with your RV on that summer trip, you need to make sure your vehicle is ready. Because there is so much to think about, use a checklist to keep track of what needs to be done.
Have your vehicle serviced prior to getting on the road to ensure safe travels. Have a reputable mechanic check your brakes, change the filters, change the oil and inspect all tires. If you bring your vehicle in for service, allow yourself plenty of time to have repairs done before loading it up with luggage and supplies.
Because you will be spending a good deal of time inside your RV, make sure the air conditioning is functioning properly. Spend some time doing your own visual inspection of the vehicle to identify potential problems.
Once your RV has been inspected for safety, categorize the checklist into manageable sections, such as personal items, camping equipment, food, cooking equipment, clothing, entertainment/sporting equipment and bedding. Under each section, list the items you think you will need.
Before you begin your adventure, plan your route with AAA TripTik and have alternate options for traffic and weather concerns. Charge your electronic devices ahead of time and bring chargers with you so you can communicate as needed. If you will be traveling for several hours, plan to switch drivers or take breaks when you feel tired.
If you experience any automotive troubles when traveling, call AAA for roadside assistance.
