SaferCar App Makes Checking for Safety Recalls Easier

by Gwen Newell

One in four vehicles on the road has an unrepaired recall. This is considered quite the safety risk. In the event one of your vehicles has a recall, you would want to know exactly what it is and what to do next.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is making checking vehicles for safety recalls much easier with their new SaferCar free smartphone app. This app allow drivers to park their cars in a “virtual garage” in which they will immediately be alerted if a recall is issued on vehicles that have safety defects.

Additionally, the SaferCar app will also allow users to receive recall notices for car seats, tires, trailers, trucks, vans and motorcycles. SaferCar remembers all of the vehicles and equipment registered, will notify you of all related recalls and even recommend local dealerships handling repairs.

A top priority for NHTSA is keeping consumers aware of the latest information about recalls, information that could directly impact their lives. The SaferCar app was designed so that consumers can get precisely and crucial information that they need, as soon as it is made available.
