African Safari: Experience the Thrill and Beauty

by admin

Are you looking for your next overseas trip to be one with incredible sights, wildlife and an adrenaline rush? Sounds like an African safari is just what you need.

AAA Travel specialist Amanda McDeavitt recommends Tanzania Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti and Masai Mari for the best safari and tented camp experience. No matter where you end up camping, McDeavitt has another bit of advice, “Don’t ever go outside at night on your own! You may become a snack.”

To keep the adventure going, try a canoe safari down the Zambezi, a wonderful outdoor destination. However, McDeavitt prefaces that it’s not for the faint of heart. And why stop there? Climbing Kilimanjaro and doing the gorilla trek are also on her list.

Beyond the safari, she suggests a trip to the Stellenbosch wine area, which offers a beautiful array of architectural styles at the jaw-dropping Victoria Falls in Capetown, South Africa—and delicious wines of course.

To account for all of these activities and more plus travel time, McDeavitt says to go with 10 days to two weeks. For the best weather, avoid the rainy seasons, which means April and November in East Africa and June through August in South Africa.

If you still need convincing, McDeavitt adds, “It is beautiful and a very unique destination in the world—truly magical. You get to see the world in a different way. Not to mention the people are very warm and welcoming.”
