A New Year and a New Name

By Sandy Schaack Masinter

Since 1940, Go Magazine has served as the official AAA Member publication of the Carolinas, delivering the latest in
travel information, discounts, car care advice, and member products and services to every household within our AAA family.

The legacy of our Club magazine reaches back 99 years, when it debuted as Carolina Motorist in 1922, the same year as the Carolina Motor Club was founded. Back then, good roads and directional information were scarce, and auto travel was still in its infancy. So the magazine did the essential job of communicating pivotal motorist and legislative issues of the day to our growing membership.

The magazine underwent a number of name changes over the next two decades: Carolina Motor News, Carolina Crusader, The Car Owner, and, in 1940, Go Magazine. Redesigns altered the shape and size of the publication, from the familiar magazine format, to larger newspaper-style tabloids, to even a pocket-size periodical.

So with the New Year in sight, we’re excited to announce the next big chapter for our venerable Club publication. In the January/February 2022 issue, we will rebrand as AAA Living and sport a whole new look. AAA Living will replace Go.

You asked and we listened! AAA Living will capture a wider coverage of AAA discounts and services, and feature additional lifestyle articles and weekend vacation ideas. Local, national and international destinations will remain a central component, and you’ll continue to see member stories highlighted in the articles.

AAA Living also introduces four new sections to the magazine that thematically categorize content:
  • Things To Know: Timely or newsworthy information on travel, discounts, community and more
  • Joy: Enjoying life and making the most of it
  • Secure: Feeling secure and prepared for the present and future
  • Value: Simplifying life and finding everyday value

Packed with added features, more pages, and a fresh look, AAA Living promises something new for the next generation of our magazine. We hope you’ll enjoy the new design and direction. Let us know what you think in January!
