For those missing travel while the world continues to battle the pandemic, the temporary answer may lie within your streaming television and on-demand platforms. Here are five television shows that can transport you to travel destinations around the globe and may inspire you to start planning your own post-pandemic trips.
1. BELOW DECK
See the world from the cushy comfort of a super yacht on this reality TV show from Bravo streaming on demand and on Peacock. Each season the yacht, the very attractive-looking crew and the very rich and (often demanding) guests take off for a destination of beauty. With eight seasons of Below Deck featuring the Caribbean, Tahiti and Thailand, five seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean and one season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht in Greece, viewers can binge-watch and travel in style from their couch for a long time.

2. THE DURRELLS IN CORFU
An adaption of the author and naturalist Gerald Durrell’s books My Family and Other Animals and its two sequels, the PBS Masterpiece show is a somewhat based account of his eccentric British family’s life living in Corfu from 1935 to 1939. The story focuses on Durrell’s mother, a widow, and her four children ages 11 to 21. Amidst the both funny and touching tales of the family and their Greek friends, viewers are treated to beautiful Ionian Sea views and Greek cultural treasures. The four seasons are available on Amazon Prime and on demand on PBS.
Start Planning: Azamara Cruises
Experience Greek culture on and off the ship plus the beauty of Greece’s islands, as well as Turkey, on a Greece Intensive Voyage sailing with this Azamara. Each shore excursion allows you the chance to immerse yourself in the culture, history and uniqueness of the islands.
3. EMILY IN PARIS
The first season made its debut in 2020 and a second season is already planned for this Netflix romance. Millennial Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper moves to Paris for her dream job. While she learns French, navigates the cultural norms, friends, and love, Emily’s adventures take viewers amidst the beautiful City of Lights in all its glory.

The ultimate time traveling love story begins its five-season tale in 1743 Scotland based on Diana Gabaldon’s beloved novels. It draws viewers in with the chemistry of Highland hunk Jamie Fraser and beautiful and super smart married time traveling British combat nurse from 1945 Claire Randall. However, it is the scenic beauty of Scotland and its fascinating history in the first three seasons that will have travel enthusiasts wanting to book their own more traditional adventure to the land of the Scottish clans. The STARZ show can be watched on demand for subscribers and the first four seasons are also available on Netflix.
