Craving some Caribbean sun? American Airlines just made it a whole lot easier to feed that need with new direct flights from Charlotte to Barbados beginning on Dec. 19. The service will operate one nonstop flight per day from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The announcement comes after a record year for U.S. tourism in Barbados: there were a total of 188,970 American visitors in 2017, which amounts to a 30-year high. With its impeccable white-sand beaches and a renowned culinary scene — it’s the first Zagat-rated destination in the Caribbean — it’s no surprise that this small island is getting a big reputation.
